IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO EVACUATE NIGERIANS STRANDED IN SUDAN, ACCORDING TO NIDCOM

Following the continuing unrest in Sudan, the federal government has stated that it will be impossible to evacuate Nigerians living there.

According to the administration, this was caused by some airplanes parked at the country's airport being set on fire yesterday.

Sudan has been in a state of emergency for the past week as a result of a confrontation between rival military groups that has killed hundreds of people.

The Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa, stated that while the Nigerian Mission in Sudan and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) have put plans in place to evacuate Nigerian students and other Nigerian citizens stranded in Sudan, the tense situation makes any flights dangerous and impossible at this time, noting that aircraft parked at the country's airport were burned yesterday morning."

The Commission also urged everyone participating in the current conflict to see the Juba Peace Agreement as a critical tool for restoring the country's stability and peace.
