EID-EL FITR: KANO GOVERNOR GANDUJE PARDONS 43 INMATES

Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Governor of Kano State, has pardoned forty-three inmates serving varying imprisonment terms across the state.

Ganduje pardoned the detainees on Friday at the Goron Dutse detention facility to mark Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

Ganduje, who was represented by his Deputy, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, said his administration had acquitted 413 convicts and settled penalties and compensations for the detainees totaling four million, nine hundred and forty-nine thousand nairas (N4,949,000).

Governor Ganduje charged the pardoned prisoners with demonstrating excellent character after they were reintegrated into society.

Suleiman Muhammad Inuwa, State Controller of the Correctional Service, stated that the gesture will help to decongest the institutions and promote a tranquil environment.
