EPL: THE FAVORITE MANAGER FOR THE JOB WAS REVEALED AFTER CHELSEA'S DEFEAT TO REAL MADRID
Chelsea's management prefers Julian Nagelsmann to Luis Enrique as their next permanent manager.
Frank Lampard, the club's all-time leading goalscorer, is now filling the position on an interim basis and is likely to leave at the end of the season.
Frank Lampard, the club's all-time leading goalscorer, is now filling the position on an interim basis and is likely to leave at the end of the season.
The Blues' hunt for a permanent manager has increased following a string of poor performances under Lampard, including a 4-0 (on aggregate) defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League.
The club's hierarchy is said to have spoken with both Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique, and former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is also on the club's shortlist of candidates.
However, Sky Deutschland says that Nagelsmann, who was recently fired by Bayern Munich, met with Chelsea's co-sporting directors, Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, in London last Thursday and outlined his views.
According to the report, Chelsea has Nagelsmann ahead of Luis Enrique at the moment.
After meeting the club's recruitment team, Luis Enrique was said to be 'disappointed' by Chelsea's choice to appoint Lampard until the end of the season.
