TONYE COLE AND AMAECHI WORKED AGAINST TINUBU - WIKE

Nyesom Wike

Rotimi Amaechi, a former minister of transportation, and Tonye Cole, an All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for governor, have been charged by Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike for conspiring to thwart Bola Tinubu's election.

Amaechi and Cole allegedly opposed the APC's power rotation to the southern region of Nigeria, according to Wike.

Wike said the following during a state broadcast: "Amaechi and his protégé, Tonye Cole, actively opposed the demand for power shift to the South and worked against their party's presidential candidate in Rivers State.

"When the President-elect emerged as the winner, Cole rushed to congratulate him on his Instagram handle but deleted the post when he was criticised."

Tinubu emerged as the APC's front-runner for president in June 2022 after defeating Amaechi, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, and Senate President Ahmad Lawan.
