PETER OBI DISCUSSES WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT IN RESPONSE TO INEC DEFYING THE COURT'S INJUNCTION

Peter Obi

Peter Obi, the Labour Party's (LP) presidential candidate, has revealed the next course of action the party and its supporters will take if the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) denies them access to inspect the sensitive materials used in the conduct of the presidential and National Assembly elections on February 25, 2023.

Obi cried out over INEC's apparent failure to abide by the Supreme Court's directive to permit the party to examine the election's materials.

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was declared the winner of the election by INEC, who noted that the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate had received a total of 8,794,726 votes, defeating Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Peter Obi of the Liberation Party, who received 6,984, 520 and 6,101,533 votes, respectively.

"The court granted the ruling, but INEC is not obeying. For me, we'll do whatever is necessary within the law. Whatever we're going to do will be in the interest of the country. Let them give us access.

"They have declared somebody as the winner, and we must get access to the process. We'll protest at the INEC office, and we'll also go back to the court because we have a situation where we cannot even mention," he said.

"INEC is an institution backed by the law but they're not obeying it. How do we start building a nation? The most important ingredient of what makes at nation is the rule of law."
