1. The Central Bank of Nigeria began disbursing old naira notes to Deposit Money Banks on Thursday, as government officials stepped up efforts to end the stinging currency scarcity that has caused pain for millions of bank customers across the country.


2. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Thursday announced the

Ayodele Fayose, former governor of Ekiti State; Pius Anyim, former president of the Senate; Prof Dennis Ityavyar, and Aslam Aliyu have all been suspended. In a statement, the PDP also referred the governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, to the National Disciplinary Committee over his reported involvement in anti-party activities.


3. Former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu faces a 10-year prison sentence under the United Kingdom's Modern Slavery Act 2015 after a London court found him and his wife, Beatrice, guilty of organ trafficking.


4. On Thursday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested 28 people, including a cleric, suspected of being "Yahoo-Yahoo boys" in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital. The arrest, which was effected at Mandate Area, Ilorin, by operatives of the EFCC Ilorin Zonal Command, followed intelligence on the activities of fraudsters operating in the area.


5. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State said on Thursday that it has rejected the outcome of the March 18, 2023, governorship election, in which the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Francis Nwifuru was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The party insisted that PDP candidate Odii received the most votes and thus won the March 18 governorship election.


6. Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom yesterday accused the Peoples Democratic Party's National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, of anti-party activities. In response to the PDP's referral of Ayu to the National Disciplinary Committee, Ortom stated that Ayu should appear before a committee because he worked for the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Benue State.


7. Abia State governor-elect Alex Otti claims he won election before Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi joined the party. Otti said this in an interview on Channels TV's Politics Today.


8. The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has warned that those responsible for the attacks on Igbo in Lagos will soon come to regret their actions. IPOB gave the warning on Thursday in a statement issued by its media and publicity secretary, Emma Powerful.


9. The Federal Government has insisted that the National Carrier, Nigeria Air, will launch before May 29, 2023, despite a pending legal dispute. Minister of Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika, gave the assurances during the National Aviation Stakeholders' Forum 2023, on Thursday.


10. Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the nation's incoming president, has urged Muslims to follow the Prophet Muhammad's examples of humility, forgiving others, and service to others (SAW). This was stated by Tinubu in a message of congratulations to Muslims as the Ramadan fasting period began on Thursday.
