SEN. ADEMOLA ADELEKE BECOMES OFFICIAL FORMAL GOVERNOR OF OSUN STATE
On Sunday morning, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke took the oath of office as the sixth elected governor of Osun State.
Oaths of allegiance and office were administered to Adeleke by the State's President of the Customary Court at exactly 11:54am in front of a sizable audience of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members, supporters, and guests from all walks of life.
Together with his deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi, he and the state's chief judge, Adepele Ojo, took the oath of office. On June 17, 2022, the Independent National Electoral Commission proclaimed Adeleke the victor of the Osun governorship race.
Adeleke made the announcement that all state accounts would be frozen during his inaugural address on Sunday. In addition, he stated that the state's name would now be "Osun State" rather than "The state of Osun."
In accordance with the state's recognition by the Nigerian constitution, Adeleke ordered that all state emblems now read "state of the living spring" rather than "state of the virtue."
In addition to promising to uphold the interests of the Osun people, the new governor also pledged to form panels to investigate each appointment and action made by his predecessor, Oyetola, between July 16 and the day of his resignation.
