UEFA Demands Answers From FIFA Over Infantino Presidency

UEFA has demanded immediate transparency from FIFA over Gianni Infantino's presidency, questioning the abandoned FIFA Forward Enterprise project and the FIFA Peace Prize as pressure mounts for the FIFA chief to resign ahead of his re-election bid.
“They cannot be deferred until the next meeting of the FIFA Council...”
UEFA have written to FIFA demanding clarification by November 2 over Gianni Infantino's presidency, raising concerns about the FIFA Forward Enterprise project and the FIFA Peace Prize.
The European governing body has been at the forefront of calls for Infantino to step down after he put forward the now-scrapped FFE proposal, which would have seen a new company set up to handle the commercial rights of FIFA tournaments, including the World Cup, with a minority share offered to private investors.
The 56-year-old, who faces re-election next year, issued an apology to the FIFA Council last week and invited members to put any queries about his leadership in writing so he could respond at the next meeting on December 16.
However, UEFA general secretary Theodore Theodoridis contacted his FIFA counterpart Mattias Grafstrom on Monday to push for a quicker reply to 42 questions spanning 12 subjects.
“These questions require answers now,” Theodoridis wrote.
“They cannot be deferred until the next meeting of the FIFA Council - nor can future governance reforms substitute for scrutiny of decisions already taken and accountability for them...
“We expect FIFA to provide the transparency required by its own governing body and to respond fully within the above deadline.”
“The FIFA Governance Regulations state that Council meetings and their associated documentation are confidential,” a FIFA spokesperson said on Tuesday.
UEFA did not immediately reply when asked for comment.
