In a clash of last season's top two in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) regular season, Frolunda edged Skelleftea on penalties, while Timra stormed into the top 10 with a fourth straight win by shutting out IF Bjorkloven.

Frolunda stayed second in the table and moved three points clear of third-placed Skelleftea, as the European champions beat the Swedish champions 3-2 after a shootout for back-to-back wins, ending Skelleftea's two-game winning run in the process.

After Samuel Fagemo put Frolunda ahead in the first period, the visitors turned the game around in the second with goals from Victor Stjernborg and Par Lindholm, but their lead did not last long as Samuel Johannesson made it 2-2 just a couple of minutes later. Neither team could find a winner in the third period or overtime, then the first seven attempts in the shootout were all missed before Filip Cederqvist netted the winner for the home side.

Skelleftea stayed third because IF Bjorkloven were beaten for the third time in four games, losing 3-0 to an in-form Timra side who climbed from the relegation spots into the playoff places with a fourth straight victory a run only bettered by leaders Farjestad.

It was not until the final minute of the second period that Eddie Genborg broke the deadlock for the hosts, who sealed the win with a powerplay goal and an empty-netter in the third, both from Reid Gardiner, while Jacob Johansson made 20 saves for the shutout.

Farjestad extended their winning streak to eight games after winning the top-versus-bottom clash 4-2 against Linkoping, but they and Frolunda were the only teams in the top seven to take victories in this round. Fifth-placed Brynas were beaten 3-2 at home by Vaxjo, who climbed to 11th after a first win in four.

Sixth-placed Rogle went down 2-1 at home to Orebro, while Djurgarden moved three points clear of the bottom two thanks to a 3-2 penalty shootout win over Malmo, coupled with Lulea ending their poor run with a 5-2 victory over HV71. With those results, every team from fifth to ninth in the table is locked together on 14 points.
