AC Milan back Curva Sud boycott of Udinese match, saying €65 away tickets unfairly burden fans and calling for league-wide price cap.

AC Milan threaten reciprocal ticket prices in support of fan boycott...

AC Milan have backed their supporters who plan to boycott Sunday's Serie A game at Udinese, stating that the price of away tickets puts an unfair strain on travelling fans.

Away tickets were priced at €65 ($73). In a statement, Milan said such inflated pricing risks increasing the divide between clubs and damaging efforts to grow the profile of Italian football.

“The global appeal of Italian football depends heavily on the loyalty and passion of supporters of clubs ‌like AC Milan,” the club said.

“Charging those same fans ‌excessive prices for away games is not only unfair, but undermines the unity of the league at a time when Italian football needs to come together to compete against the Premier League and other European leagues.”

Milan have also called on Serie A to look at bringing in a league-wide limit on away ticket prices, similar to the Premier League in England where the cap is £30 ($40). The club further warned that it could introduce a reciprocal pricing policy.

Under that plan, supporters of clubs that charge Milan fans above-average prices could be charged more when they come to San Siro, subject to league rules, with the extra income “donated to Fondazione Milan to support charitable initiatives.”

“Italian football cannot grow stronger by treating supporters differently based on the size of their club,” Milan added.

Ticket prices have long been a concern for fan group Curva Sud, which boycotted Milan's away game at Juventus in 2023 as a form of protest.

The supporters' group raised its complaints again last season regarding the prices for Milan's games against Juventus and also accused Torino of overcharging away fans.
