Rams releases kicker Harrison Mevis after costly blocked field goal vs Bills...

The Los Angeles Rams have parted ways with kicker Harrison Mevis after his blocked field goal proved costly in their Monday Night Football loss to the Buffalo Bills, according to multiple reports.

Mevis is expected to be replaced by Blake Grupe, the former New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts kicker who has spent this season on the New York Jets' practice squad.

The move comes less than 24 hours after the Rams' 37-34 overtime loss to the Bills on Monday night, when Mevis had a potential game-winning 48-yard attempt blocked by Greg Rousseau's fingertips.

Mevis also missed a 50-yard attempt in the first quarter. Just moments after his overtime miss, Bills kicker Tyler Bass drilled a 45-yarder to deliver a dramatic win for Buffalo.

Head coach Sean McVay said the Rams' kicking game had “cost us the game.”

Mevis, who signed with the Carolina Panthers in 2024 but never appeared in a game, was brought in by the Rams last season to replace Joshua Karty.

Across the 2025 season and postseason, Mevis went 18-for-19 on field-goal attempts, including a game-winner in the snow against the Chicago Bears. Monday night's misses, however, dropped him to 5-for-9 this year.

“I thought offensively and defensively we battled. Thought some of the coverage units, we did some really good stuff,” he told a post-game press conference.

“And then the kicking game, especially with our PAT (point after touchdown), field goal, not even close to good enough. It cost us the game tonight.”

Mevis didn't let the rough night shake his confidence, though.

“I know who I am and I know how I'll respond as a kicker,” Mevis said after the game.

The two-year kicker out of Indiana will now be searching for a new opportunity.
