4 Games, 2 huge upsets and statement wins for Rangers and Leafs. Rangers Vs Ducks, Flyers Vs Avalanche, Leafs and Mammoth win...
The New York Rangers' impressive run of form rolled on Monday as they secured another dominant home victory over the Ducks, while the Philadelphia Flyers stunned the league with a major upset just a day after another shock result.
Rangers Cruise Past Ducks in 5-2 Statement Win
The New York Rangers (6-3-1) are proving they don't need their biggest star to stay dangerous, firing four goals in the opening two periods to overpower the Anaheim Ducks (4-3-0) on Monday. Alexis Lafreniere led the charge once again with two assists, while Oliver Bjorkstrand netted a brace as the Rangers hit five goals for the second straight game.
Both sides finished with 30 shots apiece, but Anaheim left their comeback too late. Late third-period goals from Nick Jensen and A.J. Greer cut the deficit, yet it wasn't enough to spark a turnaround as the Ducks slumped to a 5-2 road defeat.

Flyers Stun Avalanche to Seal Second Win of Season
In a league where surprises are always possible, few predicted what unfolded when the struggling Philadelphia Flyers (2-6-3) hosted the Colorado Avalanche (5-3-1). Despite having home-ice advantage, an upset looked unlikely, but Colorado started sloppily and Philadelphia pounced, with Matvei Michkov firing in two early goals to put the Flyers in control.
Colorado pushed hard to respond, but Joseph Woll stood tall with 24 saves from 26 shots, denying the comeback. His resilience helped Philadelphia hold on for a 3-2 victory, their second of the season, leaving the NHL stunned for the second time in 24 hours.
Maple Leafs Lean on Stars to Beat Sharks 3-1
The Toronto Maple Leafs (3-4-2) have endured a slow start to 2026/27, but they found a response on Monday against an improving San Jose Sharks (4-4-1) side. Toronto needed its stars to step up for consistency, and they delivered, with Auston Matthews posting a goal and two assists, William Nylander adding an assist, and Gavin McKenna also finding the net in a big performance.
San Jose struck first through Mason Marchment, but their attack went quiet after that. Sergei Bobrovsky enjoyed his best outing of the season with 30 saves on 31 shots, backstopping the Maple Leafs to a much-needed home victory.
Mammoth Outlast Penguins in 5-4 Thriller
The Utah Mammoth (7-3-0) have been one of the NHL's hottest offensive teams to start 2026/27, and they showed why again Monday against the Pittsburgh Penguins (3-6-1) at home. Five different players scored for Utah, with 11 skaters hitting the scoresheet in total and four recording multi-point nights in a true team effort.
Utah appeared in control with a 5-2 lead early in the third, but Pittsburgh refused to go away. Egor Chinakhov and Declan Carlile struck late to make it a one-goal game, but Sebastian Cossa stood firm to help one of the league's most exciting young teams hang on for a dramatic victory.
