It was a perfect twist of fate for Johan Manzambi, who secured a 1-0 win for Aston Villa over Newcastle on Saturday after choosing Villa Park over St James' Park following his breakout World Cup with Switzerland.
Aston Villa hijacked Newcastle deal for Manzambi and he just made them pay...
Match-winner Johan Manzambi says Aston Villa were the perfect fit for him after choosing Unai Emery's side over Newcastle, a decision that paid off when the two sides met on Saturday, October 17th.
The 21-year-old made the switch to Villa Park following a breakout World Cup with Switzerland, where he registered three goals and one assist in just four appearances.
Ahead of his summer switch, Manzambi was reportedly close to joining Newcastle, only for Aston Villa to swoop in late and hijack the deal at the last minute.
In a twist of fate, it was Manzambi's goal that separated the sides when they clashed at St James' Park on Saturday, October 17th.
The midfielder was visibly delighted with the 1-0 victory and admitted that Villa felt like the perfect club for him to continue his development.

“I'm very happy to score today and I hope the next game both of us can score. But the most important (thing) is the three points,” he said.
“The team was really good. I played against this team in the final (of the Europa League) and it's a very good team with a big coach and I knew that was perfect for me.”
