Rams WR Davante Adams sidelined after hamstring injury

Davante Adams will miss 6-10 weeks after rupturing his hamstring in the Rams’ loss to the Cardinals. Here’s the full injury update, recovery timeline, and impact on Los Angeles.

“It’s significant when you don’t have a player like Davante...”

The Los Angeles Rams’ already difficult 2026 season took another major hit on Monday. Head coach Sean McVay confirmed that wide receiver Davante Adams will miss six to 10 weeks after suffering a ruptured hamstring in Sunday’s narrow 18-16 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

Adams, the 33-year-old six-time Pro Bowler, went down on a non-contact play late in the fourth quarter. On the Rams’ second-to-last offensive snap, he was running a route into the end zone when he pulled up, grabbed near his left knee, and limped to the sideline. McVay described the injury as a ruptured semitendinosus. Adams is expected to undergo a procedure to clean out the hamstring tendon, with the hope of returning around the team’s Week 11 bye or shortly thereafter.

Through six games, Adams had been one of the Rams’ most productive pass-catchers. He recorded 30 receptions for 480 yards and four touchdowns, averaging a career-best 16.0 yards per catch and leading the team in receiving yards. He stepped up significantly during Puka Nacua’s earlier two-game absence, posting strong performances against the Giants and Broncos. Last season, Adams led the NFL in receiving touchdowns with 14 in his first year with Los Angeles.

The timing could hardly be worse. The Rams sit at 2-4 after dropping three of their last four games and entered the year as one of the preseason Super Bowl favorites. Adams is not the only key player sidelined. Defensive tackle Poona Ford will miss the rest of the season with a ruptured triceps, kicker Blake Grupe is out for the year with a knee injury, and defensive tackle Kobie Turner is headed to injured reserve with a groin issue (minimum four weeks). Star edge rusher Myles Garrett has also been dealing with a knee injury.

McVay acknowledged the challenge of replacing a player of Adams’ caliber. “It’s significant when you don’t have a player like Davante, but we have to be able to adjust,” he said. “His contributions can’t be measured. You don’t replace somebody like him… We’ll have to adjust and adapt.” The Rams will likely lean even more heavily on All-Pro wide receiver Puka Nacua (team leader with 37 receptions), while looking for increased contributions from tight ends Tyler Higbee and Colby Parkinson, as well as depth options such as Konata Mumpfield, Jordan Whittington, and Tutu Atwell. McVay indicated the team will discuss whether to add another wide receiver.

Adams has a history with hamstring issues. He missed three games late last season with a similar injury before returning for the playoffs. At 33 and in his 13th NFL season, recovery timelines can be unpredictable, but the shorter end of the current projection would put him back in the lineup in roughly six weeks potentially around or just after the bye.

For a Rams offense that has relied on Adams’ reliability and red-zone production, the next stretch of the schedule will test the depth of Sean McVay’s scheme and Matthew Stafford’s supporting cast. Whether Adams can return on the optimistic side of the timeline may play a significant role in how competitive Los Angeles remains as the season progresses.
