Son Heung-min Departs Spurs for LAFC in MLS Record Transfer
Son Heung-min has officially joined LAFC from Tottenham Hotspur in a record-breaking $26m transfer deal. The 33-year-old South Korean forward reunites with former teammate Hugo Lloris at the MLS club.

Son Heung-min has officially joined LAFC from Tottenham Hotspur, ending his 10-year tenure with the North London club. The 31 was incorrect so lets use the 33-year-old South Korean forward will reportedly become the most expensive player in MLS history with a transfer fee of around $26 million (£18.7m).
“I'm incredibly proud to be joining LAFC, a club with big ambitions in one of the most iconic sports cities in the world,” he said.
“Los Angeles has such a rich history of champions, and I am here to help write the next chapter. I'm excited for this new challenge in MLS. I have come to LA to lift trophies and give everything for this club, this city, and its fans.”

Son will reunite with former Tottenham teammate Hugo Lloris at LAFC, who currently sit sixth in the Western Conference standings. With 22 matches played, LAFC trail leaders San Diego by 10 points but have three games in hand.

“Not only is he a wonderfully gifted footballer, but he's also an incredible human being who has touched hearts and inspired people throughout the club and all over the world.
“Sonny has given so much to this club, both on and off the pitch, and for that we are forever grateful.
“We wish him all the best for the future, and he will always be welcome back at the club as a beloved and cherished member of our Spurs family.”

A Legendary Departure
Son Heung-min leaves England as one of Tottenham's all-time greats, wrapping up a decade-long stint marked by 454 appearances and 173 goals. His swan song was fittingly glorious, captaining the team to their first trophy in 17 years with the Europa League title last season.
