Pep Guardiola's Frustration Grows After FA Cup Defeat

Pep Guardiola's Manchester City falls to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final, despite dominating possession and shots on goal.

Pep Guardiola expressed frustration following Manchester City's 1-0 FA Cup final defeat to Crystal Palace. Guardiola noted that his team did everything but score, highlighting the team's inability to capitalize on their chances.

This loss marks one of the rare instances in Guardiola's managerial career where he ends the season without a major trophy. The defeat capped off a disappointing season for Manchester City under his leadership.

Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson had a fortunate escape when he wasn't given a red card for handling outside the penalty area in the first half. He went on to make a crucial save from Omar Marmoush's penalty, helping his team secure the win.

“We didn't score, so congratulations Crystal Palace for the victory,” Guardiola said. “Today we were more aggressive, we created a lot, missed penalties and many things but if you don't score a goal you cannot win.” Manchester City dominated the match with nearly 80% possession and 23 shots, but ultimately came up short.

Guardiola declined to comment on the decision not to send off Dean Henderson, stating “none of my business.” He also clarified that he didn't choose Omar Marmoush to take the penalty, as Erling Haaland handed him the ball.

“They take decisions always in the round of penalties,” Guardiola said. “I like the guys who take the initiative and yeah, they decide.” Haaland had missed three penalties earlier in the season, but opted to pass the ball to Marmoush for the spot-kick.
