Amorim Remains Focused on Premier League Goal Despite FA Cup Exit

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has set his sights on winning the Premier League title, despite a disappointing start to his tenure and an FA Cup exit to Fulham.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has set his sights on reclaiming the Premier League title, despite a disappointing start to his tenure. Following a bitter FA Cup loss to Fulham on penalties, Amorim emphasized that the Red Devils must target a return to the top of the Premier League.

The defeat to Fulham marked a dismal beginning to Amorim's era at Manchester United, with the team languishing in 14th place in the Premier League, a staggering 34 points behind leaders Liverpool. Nevertheless, Amorim remains resolute in his ambition to guide the club to Premier League success.

For Amorim, the ultimate goal at Old Trafford is to end Manchester United's decade-long wait for another Premier League title, dating back to 2013. While cup victories are desirable, Amorim's primary focus is on restoring the Red Devils to their former glory in the league.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has reaffirmed his commitment to guiding the team to Premier League glory, despite a tumultuous start to his tenure. “The goal is to win the Premier League, so I know that we are losing games and losing trophies during this season but the goal is to win the Premier League again,” Amorim emphasized. He acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding the timeline for achieving this goal, saying, “I don't know how long it's going to take, but that is our goal. If you think like that, we can suffer a little bit in these defeats, a lot sometimes, but we have a goal so we continue forward no matter what.”

Amorim's ambition may seem far-fetched at present, given his modest record of five wins in 16 league games since taking the reins. When questioned about the timeframe for achieving Premier League success, Amorim replied, “It's impossible to know (how long it will take).” However, he expressed optimism about the team's progress, stating, “But you start understanding. I think the players are better, we understand better the league, we know what to do with the squad, what is the future and we'll see in the future.”

With the Premier League title seemingly out of reach this season, Manchester United's attention now shifts to the Europa League, their last hope for silverware. Amorim's men face a daunting last-16 tie against Real Sociedad, and their prospects were not helped by being forced to play 120 minutes against Fulham. “It's really important but we have to recover the players, try to push for the other players that are out because they were really tired,” Amorim said, highlighting the need for recovery and squad rotation ahead of the Europa League clash.
