We Haven't Received Senators' December Salaries — Kaduna Victims
Senators and other lawmakers have not yet donated their December salaries as promised; the Army laments bombing of the Kaduna community
A number of well-known people and government representatives gave monetary gifts to the victims of the unintentional bombing, which caused a national uproar and helped them deal with their loss and agony.
The 109 senators in the National Assembly have not yet acted on their promise to give them their December 2023 salaries, according to the victims of the Nigerian Army drone attack on Tundun Biri in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
However, we found out that the senators had not yet kept their promise. It was found that a large number of other donors who had made similar pledges had not yet redeemed them.
Yemi Adaramodu, the spokesperson, acknowledged that the members had not yet kept their word but insisted that the hold-up was merely technical.
The Senate's promise to the victims of the tragic Kaduna State incident is being delivered with a noticeable delay; this is merely procedural.
The Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, declared that the 109 senators would give the victims N109 million, or their December salary of N1 million, during a condolence visit to Kaduna in December.
“We are here to represent the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and indeed, other senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to sympathize with you and condole with you for the lost lives and those who sustained injuries in respect of the unfortunate incident that happened at Tundun Biri in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna some few days ago,” the Deputy Senate President said.
“It is on this note that we have decided that we are going to donate our salaries for a full month to be given to those who were affected by this incident. So, a total of N109m will be made available to the governor to be channeled to help bring succor to those affected by the unfortunate incident at Tudun Biri,” Jibrin added.
