Late Ilerioluwa Oladimeji 'Mohbad' Aloba |
Ilerioluwa Aloba (also known as Mohbad), a Nigerian musician from Lagos, will have a coroner's inquest opened on September 29 by the Lagos State Judiciary to determine what caused his death.
This is stated in a letter written by Justice Mojisola Dada, the state's chief coroner.
The letter, dated September 26, was delivered to Falana & Falana Chambers' office.
It was in response to a request made by Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), the proprietor of the offices and a rights campaigner.
Magistrate T. A. Shotobi, who will preside over the inquest, signed the letter.
Part of the letter stated: "I have the directive of the Chief Coroner, Lagos State, Justice Mojisola Dada, to notify your good office of the lordship's order to convoke an inquest into death of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba (a.k.a. Mohbad).
"The inquest will take place at 12.00 p.m. in Court Three, Candide-Johnson Courthouse, Ita-Elewa, in Ikorodu, Lagos.
"We solicit your kind assistance in ensuring the attendance of your office."
According to NAN, Falana requested a coroner's inquest into the late musician's death on September 18.
Following the musician's controversial passing on September 12 and burial the following day, Falana made the request.
In a letter to the chief coroner of the High Court of Lagos State, Ikeja, Falana requested the inquest, according to NAN.
Recall that Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, in a contentious manner, and was buried at Ikorodu the next day.
