Rice's late strike earns Arsenal hard-fought point at Allianz Arena

Arsenal come from behind to draw 2-2 at Bayern In Champions League thriller...

Arsenal struck late to salvage a 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena in the UEFA Champions League, extending an impressive run that has seen them lose just once in 14 away games in the competition (W10, D3).

The Gunners absorbed sustained second-half pressure before taking control in the closing stages.

With both sides missing key players, Arsenal would have feared the worst when Bukayo Saka was forced off injured after just 10 minutes.

However, a tactical switch that saw Eberechi Eze come on and shift to the left wing, with Noni Madueke moving to the right, transformed the Gunners as they took the lead.

Martin Odegaard curled a sublime ball in behind for Eze, who scored for the second consecutive Champions League game as he half-volleyed into the bottom corner.

Despite an unusual lack of threat from set-pieces this season, Arsenal still carved out a couple of openings from corners, with Riccardo Calafiori and Bruno Guimaraes both firing wide at the back post.

Bayern Munich, however, were creating chances of their own and, although Serge Gnabry should have tested David Raya more against his former club, an advanced Alphonso Davies slotted past the Spaniard to bring the hosts level before the break.

It was a sumptuous pass from Arsenal’s nemesis Harry Kane that set him up, with the former Tottenham Hotspur striker dropping deep to spray effortless balls to his teammates.

Both goalkeepers produced stunning saves early in the second half, Manuel Neuer first tipping Guimaraes' header onto the crossbar from another dangerous Arsenal corner, before Raya showed exquisite reflexes to deny Dayot Upamecano's header moments later.

It was end-to-end at this stage, and Eze came close to a second when he dribbled past his marker and poked towards goal, only for Neuer to come to Bayern's rescue once again.

The Bavarians then went straight back on the attack, and Kane's strike looked destined to put them ahead until Jurrien Timber raised his arm to stop the ball from crossing the line.

A penalty was duly awarded and Kane made no mistake, netting his 16th career goal against Arsenal by sending Raya the wrong way.

Substitute Luis Diaz could have wrapped up the game when his curling effort was parried by Raya, a miss that was quickly punished when Arsenal equalised at the other end.

Introduced off the bench, Viktor Gyokeres used his strength well to hold off his marker before teeing up Declan Rice, who drilled a superb finish into the bottom corner to earn the Gunners a point.

Bayern will be disappointed to have only drawn after dropping points at Viking last week, but they at least extended their unbeaten home run in the group stage/league phase to 40 games (W38, D2). Arsenal, meanwhile, remain undefeated in this season's competition (W2, D1).
