The Cleveland Cavaliers brought Minnesota Timberwolves' unbeaten start to the season to an end, edging a 127-125 overtime thriller even as Anthony Edwards dropped 47 points.

Donovan Mitchell and James Harden paced the winners for Cleveland with 26 and 19 points respectively, as the Cavs improved to 2-1 on the season.

“Tough win for us, especially early in the season,” Harden said after adding four rebounds and nine assists.

The Timberwolves came in having won their first three games and led for most of the evening, building a 15-point cushion in the first half.

Edwards, who was only cleared to play late after being listed as questionable with a right knee issue, started hot with 11 points in the opening quarter.

Cleveland rallied to draw level in the third quarter, then had to fight back again after falling seven points behind in the fourth.

Harden's driving floater with 10 seconds left tied the contest, and a block on Edwards' layup with four seconds remaining forced overtime at 113-113.

With a minute to go in the extra period, Edwards knotted the score again with a three so close to the line that officials needed a video review.

Mitchell put Cleveland back in front with a go-ahead mid-range jumper, and when Minnesota's Jonathan Kuminga missed a free throw with 30 seconds left, the Cavaliers took control.

Harden added two more free throws to make it a three-point game, but Edwards' final clutch attempt rimmed out.

Peyton Watson sealed it for Cleveland with two more free throws.

“We made a lot of mistakes on both ends of the basketball in that first half... second half, we did a better job,” Harden said.

Elsewhere, the Oklahoma City Thunder moved to 4-0 after grinding out a 125-114 victory over the Phoenix Suns.

Ajay Mitchell paced the scoring with a career-high 30 points, with support from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander who chipped in 26.

“This league is about winning games, and that's all that matters,” Gilgeous-Alexander said.

“We were just ready to go. Guys were ready to go. Guys were ready to step up,” the reigning NBA Most Valuable Player added.

Unblemished Run Continues

The Houston Rockets stayed perfect too, beating the Atlanta Hawks 120-110.

It marks their first 4-0 start since 2014, with star Kevin Durant rested for the whole fourth quarter in what became a comfortable win.

Giannis Antetokounmpo posted his first triple-double for his new team Miami, even as the Heat (0-4) fell 113-109 to the Dallas Mavericks.

Antetokounmpo, the two-time league MVP who left Milwaukee Bucks this summer, finished with 29 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists.

Mavericks teenage standout Cooper Flagg also put up 29 points, adding 11 assists, six rebounds and a career-best five steals.

Memphis also moved to 4-0 after a 110-105 win over the Utah Jazz, while Brandon Miller dropped 39 points as the Charlotte Hornets defeated the Washington Wizards 110-103.

And Golden State Warriors picked up their first win of the season, cruising past the Denver Nuggets 134-114.

Stephen Curry went a flawless 8-for-8 from the field for 24 points.

“Just staying patient. We've been working on some offensive approach where I know I get a lot of attention, trying not to force things,” he said.

“I didn't know it was going to be a perfect night like that, but glad it all came together.”
