Slavia Prague manager Jindrich Trpisovsky has immense respect for Arsenal, describing them as "astounding” ahead of their Champions League match. He believes Arsenal are one of the best teams globally, with tremendous technical quality, speed, strength, and strategic depth.

Trpisovsky wants his players to rise to the challenge and replicate their performance against Inter Milan if they hope to secure a favorable outcome against the Gunners. Slavia Prague currently sits 28th in the League Phase standings after drawing two matches and losing one, but they're coming off a 2-0 win over Banik Ostrava, showcasing their fighting spirit.
The Slavia boss highlighted Arsenal's exceptional set pieces, particularly corners, which have been a key factor in their success this season. With eight goals from set pieces in 10 Premier League games, Arsenal's proficiency in this area could prove decisive in the match. Despite Slavia's defensive solidity, having not conceded in their last five games, Trpisovsky acknowledges the challenge ahead will be immense.
Trpisovsky expressed admiration for Arsenal's balance, experience, and ability to maintain a high level of performance, emphasizing that they consistently bring in top players and have a stable core. He noted that if key defender Igoh Ogbu were available, Slavia's defensive setup would be different. With several players having played three games this week, Trpisovsky will assess his team's fitness levels before the match.
Arsenal's lineup is expected to feature a strong team, potentially including players like Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, and Leandro Trossard, who will look to exploit Slavia's weaknesses. Meanwhile, Slavia will rely on players like Lukas Provod and Tomas Chory to create scoring opportunities and cause trouble for Arsenal's defense.
Both Slavia Prague and Arsenal have shown impressive defensive solidity in recent weeks. Slavia Prague hasn't conceded in their last five games across all competitions, while Arsenal's last goal conceded was at the end of September. However, Slavia Prague coach Jindrich Trpisovsky is well aware of the challenge Arsenal poses, saying, “If I were to list everything that is dangerous about them, we wouldn't make it to training, so I'll try to generalise.” Arsenal's efficient winning machine and ruthless defense make them a formidable opponent, and Trpisovsky expects a tough night at Fortuna Arena.
“They're a mature team that controls games. It has tremendous technical quality, the players are big, strong, fast and also in top form right now. They don't let the opponents finish because Arsenal have a lot of control. With how strong they are, and they have probably the best enforcer (Declan Rice) in the world.
“From my point of view, they are the team with the best form right now and are the most balanced. They have a coach who has been there a long time, they have a stable core, and they regularly add top players to the squad. If someone drops out, they bring in a replacement of the same quality immediately.”
Arsenal's set plays, particularly corners, have been a potent force this season, with the team scoring eight goals from corners in just 10 Premier League games. Slavia Prague's manager, Jindrich Trpisovsky, has taken notice, describing Arsenal as “astounding” when it comes to their dead-ball situations.
He added: “If, for example, Igoh Ogbu, our most dominant player in defensive situations, were available, it would be different. I have to say that Arsenal's standards are astounding. I've never seen anything like it. They have everything coming together - height, power, timing, head play and most importantly, that playmaking from Rice.
“They are so complex overall, you have to think of everything. Arsenal create a huge amount of pressure on the first pass. It will be a test for our players. You can't just focus on one thing. It's also important to be active up front.”
Slavia Prague's manager, Jindrich Trpisovsky, is looking beyond just Arsenal's set pieces. His team is in a confident mood after an unbeaten October and a 2-0 win over Banik Ostrava, but he's still uncertain about his lineup for the Champions League match against Arsenal.
Trpisovsky explained: “We still have to train, and we played a very demanding game on Saturday, one of the most demanding games of the whole season in terms of intensity. So we will see after the training what condition the players will be in. Some of them have played three games this week, so of course, it adds up.
“But we believe that we will come together for this game. As far as health is concerned, I think it will be similar to Saturday. David Doudera has already trained with us and completed part of the match, so he might be the only player who will be added.”
👋 Welcome to Prague, @Arsenal! 🏴
