Xabi Alonso provides update on Jude Bellingham's injury. Find out when the England midfielder might be back on the pitch.

“It will be demanding, every match is very important, both in LaLiga and in the Champions League, and these...”

Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso is optimistic about Jude Bellingham's return, hoping the England midfielder will be back on the pitch before October. Bellingham has been sidelined since July, when he underwent surgery to address a persistent left shoulder issue that had been bothering him since November 2023. Despite the injury, Bellingham played over 100 matches with custom strapping, but the discomfort eventually led to surgery.

Alonso expressed his cautious optimism, saying, “I want to be a bit optimistic, and hope that [Bellingham] can be back before October.” Bellingham has been working hard on his recovery and has even shared updates on social media, posting “8 weeks... Back on the pitch with my brothers!” as he resumed training with Real Madrid.

Bellingham's return will be a significant boost for Real Madrid, who have started the season strongly despite his absence. His exceptional talent and creativity will be crucial for the team's success this season.

Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso expressed cautious optimism about Jude Bellingham's potential return before October, saying, “I want to be a bit optimistic and hope he can be back before October. He is starting to do some things with the group. He has made a great effort in his recovery. He is feeling very well.” Alonso's comments came during a press conference on Friday as Real Madrid prepares to face Real Sociedad on Saturday. Bellingham has been sidelined since undergoing shoulder surgery in July to address a long-standing issue that plagued him since 2023.

The injury has been a persistent problem for Bellingham, who “finally decided to go under the knife following the Club World Cup in the U.S. after reaching his breaking point with the persistent injury,” according to Alonso. Bellingham had been playing through discomfort, often wearing shoulder strapping during matches, and admitted, “I was sick of playing with the sling,” back in June. The issue initially flared up against Rayo Vallecano in 2023, forcing Bellingham to miss two games for both Real Madrid and England.

Alonso also provided updates on other injured players, including Eduardo Camavinga, who is close to returning from an ankle sprain, and Ferland Mendy, who has a few more weeks left before he can rejoin the team. With a busy schedule ahead, including the Champions League opener against Olympique de Marseille, Alonso emphasized the importance of maintaining the team's perfect start.

Alonso expressed his cautious optimism, saying, “I want to be a bit optimistic and hope he'll be ready before October. He's doing partial, non-contact training, but Jude is making a great effort in his recovery.”

Bellingham's return would be a significant boost to Real Madrid, who currently sit atop La Liga with nine points after winning all three opening games. Alonso is pleased with his squad's condition after the international break and is preparing for a demanding period with key matches approaching.

“The most important thing is that everyone has come back healthy, that we haven't had any injury problems,” he said, setting his sights on maintaining their perfect start at the challenging Anoeta stadium.

“It will be demanding, every match is very important, both in LaLiga and in the Champions League, and these points could be decisive in the long run. We have to learn how to approach each match and focus on preparing well,” Alonso said.

“During these international breaks, we have to set short-term goals to get us through April and May. We don't want to lose focus. It's a way of talking about it and organising our thoughts by distributing goals and minutes.”
