Al Hilal's withdrawal from the Super Cup has led to their replacement by Al Ahli...

Al Hilal risks a ban from the 2026-27 Saudi Super Cup if they qualify, after withdrawing from this season's tournament, according to the Saudi Arabia Football Federation's Disciplinary and Ethics Committee. The club cited player fatigue following their Club World Cup campaign as the reason for pulling out.

“Al Hilal refused to participate in the Saudi Super Cup for the 2025-2026 season after the official schedule for the competition was issued,” the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee said in a statement.

“As a result, the committee ruled that Al Hilal had violated Article (59-3) of the Disciplinary and Ethics Regulations and fined the club 500,000 Saudi Riyals ($133,000) to be paid to the SAFF,” the statement added.

Al Hilal faces a one-year ban from the Saudi Super Cup, starting from the 2026-27 season, and will also be stripped of any financial awards from this season's competition. The decision can be appealed, and Al Hilal has been approached for comment.

They won the Super Cup by beating Al Nassr last season for a record-extending fifth title.

The Saudi Super Cup is contested by the winners and runners-up of the King's Cup and Saudi Pro League. Al Hilal finished second in the 2024-25 Pro League behind Al Ittihad.

Al Hilal's withdrawal from the Super Cup has led to their replacement by Al Ahli, the AFC Champions League winners. Al Ahli will take Al Hilal's place in the semi-finals against Al Qadsiah.

Meanwhile, Al Nassr, who finished third in the league, earned a spot in the competition after Al Ittihad won both the Pro League and King's Cup, and will face Al Ahli’s semi-final opponents' yet-to-be-determined possible opponent Al Nassr will play in the semis against Al Ittihad doesn’t seem right let’s rephrase: Al Nassr will play the semis against Al Ittihad on August 19th.
