Manchester City has completed the signing of Algeria defender Rayan Ait Nouri from Wolverhampton Wanderers on a five-year deal ahead of the Club World Cup. The transfer fee was reportedly around £33.7 million, with Ait Nouri having one year remaining on his Wolves contract.

Rayan Ait Nouri joined Wolves on loan from Angers in 2020, making the move permanent a year later. After five seasons and 157 appearances, scoring 12 goals and providing 19 assists, he's now moving to Manchester City. Ait Nouri expressed his excitement, saying, “I am incredibly happy and honoured to have joined Manchester City. I am also excited about working with and learning from Pep and his coaching team and getting to train and play alongside such a world-class group of players.”

Wolves Director of Football Hugo Viana said, “Rayan is a player that, as a club, we have been following closely for quite some time and we are delighted he has joined us. He already has extensive Premier League experience and has also demonstrated his quality at international level with Algeria.” This departure follows the sale of forward Matheus Cunha to Manchester United earlier in June, leaving Wolves without two key players from last season. Meanwhile, Manchester City, Ait Nouri's new club, narrowly secured a Champions League spot last season.

Manchester City, led by Pep Guardiola, will compete in the upcoming Club World Cup in the United States. Their Group G fixtures include matches against Wydad AC (June 18), Al-Ain, and Juventus.
