Kevin Denkey starred for FC Cincinnati, scoring twice, including a breathtaking bicycle kick, as the team secured a 2-1 win over Sporting Kansas City in Major League Soccer.



The 24-year-old Togolese striker, who joined Cincinnati in January for a club-record fee of over $16 million from Cercle Brugge, showcased his skill and value with a remarkable performance that justified his high profile signing.

FC Cincinnati took a 2-0 lead with Emmanuel “Toko” Ekong's opening goal in the 43rd minute, following up on a Lukas Engel shot parried by John Pulskamp. The lead was further extended in the 78th minute when Obinna Denkey leapt to score a spectacular volley after Luca Orellano's cross following a Kansas City failure to clear a corner.


Kansas City managed to pull one back through a Zorhan Bassong blast in the 89th minute. Despite the late goal, FC Cincinnati held on to secure a 2-1 victory and three points.

Philadelphia Union's Convincing Win

The Philadelphia Union secured a 3-0 victory over D.C. United, with Norwegian defender Jakob Glesnes opening the scoring with a 15th-minute volley and Danley Jean-Jacques doubling the lead with a powerful strike seven minutes after halftime. Despite this win, the Union trails Cincinnati by three points in the standings.


The Philadelphia Union sealed their 3-0 win over D.C. United when substitute Bruno Damiani scored with a well-taken individual effort in the 77th minute. Other matches saw the New York Red Bulls edge Montreal 1-0 with Noah Eile heading home from a corner, and New York City FC beat Toronto 1-0 courtesy of an Alonso Martinez penalty.


Nashville's Thrashing Victory

Nashville SC delivered a resounding 7-2 victory over the Chicago Fire, led by English forward Sam Surridge's four-goal haul. Surridge, a former Nottingham Forest striker, scored twice from the penalty spot in the first half, contributing to Nashville's 5-0 lead at halftime. German midfielder Hany Mukhtar also scored twice in the match.


Sam Surridge continued his impressive performance by adding two more goals early in the second half, calmly finishing after being put through by long balls that the Chicago defense struggled to handle. Despite Chicago managing to score two late goals, the result was a humiliating loss for their head coach, Gregg Berhalter, who faced off against his former USA national team assistant BJ Callaghan for the first time.


Other Match Results

The Columbus Crew climbed to second place after securing a 2-1 win over the San Jose Earthquakes. Meanwhile, newcomers San Diego FC suffered their third consecutive loss, falling 3-1 at home to Real Salt Lake.


Real Salt Lake's Thrilling Match

Real Salt Lake took an early lead when USA international Diego Luna scored with a solo run, finishing with a curling shot into the corner. However, Hirving Lozano equalized for the home team from the penalty spot. Luna struck again in the 54th minute to put Real Salt Lake ahead, before Sam Junqua sealed the win with a sweet shot, making it 3-1.


Houston's Texas Derby Win

Houston Dynamo secured a 2-0 victory in the Texas derby against Austin FC. Recently signed Czech striker Ondrej Lingr opened the scoring, followed by a powerful strike from Argentine forward Ezequiel Ponce, giving Houston the win.
