The Edo State Vehicle Recovery Committee has recovered 30 government vehicles from officials of the previous administration led by Godwin Obaseki.
The Edo State Vehicle Recovery Committee has made significant progress in recovering government-owned vehicles from officials of the previous administration led by Godwin Obaseki. According to Kelly Okungbowa, the committee's chairman, 30 vehicles have been recovered so far.
The recovery efforts were facilitated by whistleblowers who provided crucial information, Okungbowa revealed. He praised their contributions, noting that their tips led to the recovery of four vehicles from the home of a former senior official and another vehicle from a different individual. This development was announced in a statement by Fred Itua, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Monday Okpebholo.
“We have recovered two Land Cruiser Jeeps and two Toyota Hilux vehicles from a former high-ranking official of the immediate past government. One of the vehicles contained campaign posters and umbrellas.
“Another Hilux vehicle was also recovered, bringing the total number of vehicles retrieved since our operation began to 30,” Okungbowa said.
Chairman Kelly Okungbowa has assured the people of Edo State that the Vehicle Recovery Committee will make more recoveries before its two-week deadline expires, building on its initial success of recovering 30 vehicles from officials of the previous administration.
“We appeal to the public for more Information to aid our operations. Whistleblowers have been instrumental to our success, and we are committed to rewarding anyone who provides helpful tips,” he added.
The Edo State Vehicle Recovery Committee, led by Chairman Kelly Okungbowa, is taking proactive steps to recover state-owned vehicles across the country. Okungbowa emphasized that the committee is ready to travel nationwide to retrieve these vehicles, ensuring that all government assets are properly accounted for and returned to the state.
The committee has already made significant progress, recovering three vehicles on Friday, November 22. These vehicles include a Hilux van and two Toyota Hiace buses. Interestingly, one of the buses was found to contain bags of rice intended as palliatives for distribution to Edo residents.
Building on this success, the committee has now recovered a total of 30 vehicles from officials of the previous administration. Okungbowa praised whistleblowers for their crucial role in providing information that led to these recoveries. The committee is committed to rewarding individuals who provide valuable tips, and Okungbowa reassured Edo residents that additional recoveries will be made before the committee's two-week deadline.
