Osimhen Injured And Will Miss Ghana's And Mali's Friendly
The Super Eagles' upcoming friendlies against Ghana and Mali will not feature Victor Osimhen.
The Super Eagles announced that the 25-year-old will miss the games due to an injury in a post on their official X account.
Osimhen did not play for Napoli in Sunday's Serie A encounter, which ended in a 1-1 draw with Inter Milan.
According to sources, the striker experienced inflammation at the site of a previous injury.
Tyrone Ebuehi, Taiwo Awoniyi, and Gabriel Osho—the new Luton Town invitee—are among the other players sidelined for the friendlies due to injuries.
The Eagles have not yet revealed a replacement for any of the injured players as they prepare for their later-this-month friendly games.
On March 22, the Eagles will take on Ghana at the Grand Stade de Marrakech in Morocco in the inaugural international exhibition match.
The squad will next meet Mali at the same location on March 26.
George Finidi will coach the Eagles in both of the friendlies until a new manager was named after Jose Peseiro's departure.
Following the cancellation of Nigeria's scheduled match against Argentina due to visa complications, a rescheduled friendly was organized.
