President Tinubu implements the Oronsaye Report to reduce the cost of governance
President Tinubu and the Federal Executive Council decided to implement the Steve Oronsaye panel's report on restructuring and rationalizing Federal government parastatals and agencies today, twelve years after the panel's report was submitted and two years after a white paper was published.
A more streamlined government will be achieved by eliminating numerous agencies and merging others.
The National Agency for Control of AIDS (NACA) and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control have merged as part of President Tinubu's implementation of the Oronsanye report, which aims to reduce governance expenses.
Some agencies have been eliminated as a result of the Oronsanye report's implementation, and many others have been merged to make room for a smaller government.
Agency dissolution and consolidation
A 12-week timeline has been set by President Tinubu for the implementation of mergers, scrapping, and relocations.
This decision is in line with the extensive 800-page Oronsanye Report, which recommends cutting the number of statutory agencies from 263 to 161, eliminating 38 of them, combining 52 of them, and returning 14 of them to departments in various ministries.
The directive underscores the dedication to executing the suggestions delineated in the Oronsanye Report.

President Tinubu emphasized that the goal of this action is to minimize the impact on the job security of civil servants and to reduce the overall cost of governance.
The Presidential Committee on the Rationalization and Restructuring of Federal Government Parastatals, Commissions, and Agencies Report is referred to as the Oronsaye Report.
