24-year-old Man Is Charged In The united states for killing his 15-year-Old Girlfriend By Strangulation

A 23-year-old man named Joshua Williams is accused of strangling a 15-year-old girl in Chicago's South Shore neighborhood.

He faces first-degree murder charges in connection with Amarise Parker's death, according to CBS News. On Tuesday, December 12, 2023, in the 7200 block of South Phillips Avenue, Williams allegedly strangled Parker, according to the police. Around 7:24 p.m. on the same day, her body was discovered inside the structure.

Williams and Parker dated, according to the prosecution, and her family had reported her missing on multiple occasions when she would go out of the house. Prior to the murder, Parker is said to have spent a few days with the suspect.

She went to Williams' neighbor's house on Sunday, December 10, and requested to use the phone to call her mother so that she could be picked up. Parker called her again the following morning requesting to be picked up when her mother went to Williams' house to pick her up, according to the prosecution.

Parker's mother picked her up this time, and she told her that Williams would not allow her to go. Parker then got in her mother's car and drove home. Parker informed her mother that Williams mistook her for being in the restroom and let her escape. That day, Parker's mother went to pick up her other daughter from school and came back to their apartment to find Parker gone.

When paramedics arrived at the scene, Parker was found unconscious in a closet with a blanket over her entire body save her head. Williams' cousin had called 911. Her neck was clotted and red, and a necklace was stuck in her throat. In addition, there were scratches on the side of her face that extended to her neck. She was declared dead at the scene, and an autopsy revealed that she had died from strangulation and asphyxiation. Prosecutors claimed that her windpipe had been broken.

Williams was questioned by police on Wednesday, December 13, and was then released from custody without being charged. However, on Saturday, Williams was arrested once more after telling police that he and Parker had fallen asleep together on December 11 and that, in a panic, he had called his cousin when Parker failed to wake up the following day. Williams denied ever fighting with Parker.

According to CBS News, recordings of Williams touching Parker's body on the evening of December 12 were found on his phone.
