Aubameyang wins the league Despite Only Participating For Eight Minutes
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang |
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, a forward for Chelsea, won the league this year.
This is true even if the Gabon international only played for eight minutes.
Aubameyang, a former star of Borussia Dortmund, was acknowledged as a member of La Liga champions Barcelona's championship team despite joining Chelsea in the summer of 2017.
After defeating Espanyol 4-2 on Sunday, the Catalans were given the Spanish premier division title.
In their season-opening match against Rayo Vallecano, the African sensation, who later joined Chelsea, was a member of Xavi's team from the very beginning of the campaign. He came off the bench for a brief cameo.
For players to be considered a part of the championship team in the top division of English football, they must have made a minimum of five league appearances.
However, this is not the case in Spain and other parts of Europe, therefore Aubameyang's eight minutes of action for Barca were all he required to win this season's title.
Aubameyang has had a terrible season at Stamford Bridge, scoring only three goals in 21 appearances.
