VOTE FOR ME IN 2023 BASED ON MY COMPETENCE - PETER OBI
Peter Obi
Mr Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, has told Nigerians to vote for him based on the competence he has not on ethnic or entitlement sentiments.
The former governor of Anambra State stated on Sunday that Nigerians should support him because he has the ability to help the nation out of its current situation during the Presidential Town Hall series hosted by Arise TV.
The kids and the ladies, he said, are the ones who should be taking turns, not anyone else.
He advised Nigerians not to support Peter Obi; "because he is from the South East, he is a Christian, an Igbo man, or it is his turn."
He clarified, "I want you to vote for Peter Obi because I am qualified. Because I am competent. I know what I can do to put this country out of the brink."
Obi emphasized the necessity of bolstering and reinvigorating the local vigilante system in the nation and having them cooperate with the police, saying that it would go a long way toward resolving the security issues of the nation.
The presidential candidate also criticized the current administration for being ineffective in preventing the attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train and other security issues that Nigerians confront, as well as for not acting on intelligence.
Obi asserted that he would have handled everything differently if he had been president in order to spare Nigerians the sorrow they are currently experiencing.
Before the Abuja-Kaduna train incident, he claimed, there was a breakdown in the intelligence processing system. According to information at hand, there had been prior attempts and intelligence that had been disregarded, as well as early warning signs of insecurity along that rail corridor.
He continued by saying that intelligence that he would have dealt with right away to prevent the catastrophe had its processing and attention not been given in a timely manner.
The presidential candidate noted that when it occurred, government action and communication were inadequate, highlighting the fact that if he had been commander-in-chief, they would have acted quickly, maintained communication throughout the process, and at the very least, shown consistent empathy to the families of those involved.
